About this deal

On the Eurolites leaflet, there is a really easy to follow flow chart and as long as you follow the steps you won’t go far wrong. I need a bulb kit for European travel but not sure of the legal ramifications when you have LED headlights i.

People with xenon lights onbtgere cars sticking anything on tge light can cause serious damage and fire. These are an essential requirement to prevent the risk of spot fines, and more importantly the 'invalidation of motor insurance' in the event of an accident. Standard headlights have a bulb set into the centre of the reflector which is located at the back of the headlight.

They come off easily with a bit of warmth and some IPA (not beer) to remove any remaining adhesive marks, no issue with damaging the plastic. A: Visitors to the UK will need to use Headlamp Beam Adaptors, which will stop the dazzle generated by continental car headlights from blinding UK drivers.

The biggest problem with a lot of modern cars is that it’s so difficult to get access to the back of the headlights. According to this AA report, you don't need the beam adjusters and warning triangle if travelling by bike. Although it’s certainly not essential, you may want to approach your vehicle’s manufacturer and ask them to provide written proof that your OEM bulbs are legal for EU driving – this piece of paper can come in handy if the local police suspect your headlights and pull you over. Headlight deflectors are simple stick-on patches that deflect the beams of our headlights, ensuring that the lights don’t shine too brightly on drivers coming in the opposite direction.

not even Jaguar… my XE has ‘fast beam’ the book says they are legal to drive in France …but when I try and MOT it in France it fails because they say the flat beam is NOT the same for UK and mainland EU…. Finally, Xenon / HID headlights throw an intense white light rather than the usual off-white colour. It performed its primary task better, namely the optimum conversion of the headlamp beam pattern – which has significant road safety benefits. This reduces the light intensity, may cause damaging ‘hotspots’ on the headlight glass, and is deemed ‘illegal’ by the French police. That’s why we have never used them, the headlights are plastic and I dread to think what a sticky mess/damage they would leave. A: The official French Road Safety organisation – ‘Association Prévention Routière advise that you should have a minimum of 2 breathalysers in your car.

All these factors mean that you ideally want people to be aware of the fact you are a 'visitor' and that, hopefully, they will give you a bit more space / time to execute any driving manoeuvres - some of which may NOT be quite as expected!

To make the LED user or dealer-replaceable, would involve a detachable heatsink and connector assembly, which would increase costs, complexity and size. If you're an Easyjet passenger who was issued a voucher during the Covid-19 pandemic, you've less than one week left to use it before it expires on 31 January 2024.
